I wish to decommission our company Exchange server and transfer accounts to Cloud service.
I need advice on how best to secure / archive historic email such that it can be accessed if necessary. This historic data will not be transferred to the Cloud service.
We are running Exchange Server 2007 on SBS2008.
I recall seeing apps some years ago that converted email to pdf for permanent archiving and would like opinion on this route - I assume it would be time consuming.
What other options are feasable given only a small percentage of historic email will ever be needed to be accessed.
Can it just be dumped to a hardisk in XML / SGML - if so waht apps would be needed to search it ?
Is MS archive viable for long term storage - i.e. max 3-5 years.
