Moved Folders Not Appearing In Outlook

Hi there,

One of our users has an additional mailbox set up in Outlook, when they move or create a new folder within the inbox for some reason it doesn't appear, the only way to refresh it is to come out of Outlook and go back in again.

The user has full permissions to the mailbox, other users have the same set up and this doesn't seem to be a problem for them.

What makes it even more confusing is I can set up Outlook for the user on another machine with the additional mailbox and it works just fine.

Run SCANPST, to fix issues with his local outlook profile.

Go to C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office12\Outlook\scanpst.exe. It will give output if he found issues. Then you can repair it. If the issue is still there, I wouldn't go to the creation of a new outlook profile.

But I would, rename your .ost to "name".ost.backup and reopen your outlook so he will recreate the .ost (this a take while depending on the size of the .ost).
You can find your .ost on windows 7 on C:\Users\username\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Outlook.

Also try removing (deleting) Favourites in the Favourites folder. These are pointers, not folders. This works in Outlook 2010 and may help you. Remove the favourites, close Outlook and restart it. See if there is any improvement. .... Thinkpads_User

Have tried both of the above options but still not working unfortunately.

So then given that the problem user works on another machine, try this:

    1. Uninstall Office completely (no big deal), restart, reinstall Office (Full, not Typical), add all the Office Service Packs and patch fully.

    2. If that does not work, create a new Windows Profile on the problem machine and try in the new Windows Profile. If the new profile works, delete the User Profile and create a new one. This requires a bit of work.
