Upgrading from Exchange 2007 to Exchange 2010

Hi Guys,

We have a single Exchange 2007 server, which we'd like to upgrade to Exchange 2010.
According to various articles I gathered that there is no in-place upgrade from Exchange 2007 to Exchange 2010.

We setup a seperate new server on the network, joined to the existing domain.
The project plan is to install Exchange 2010 on the newly installed server
Transfer mailboxes from Exch 2007 through the EMC to Exch 2010.

Once all mailboxes have been transferred successfully, to remove Exchange 2007 (complete uninstall) and make the Exch 2010 the new primary Exchange server.

I'd like to hear if anyone experienced pitfalls and if the above scenario is the best path to follow?
