PPTP on pfSense not working

I am using pfSense 2 on a ALIX.2D board from NetGate.  Everything works fine except i am unable to get PPTP to connect.  I have set all the standard configuration settings (set the server address, address range, configure firewall rule on the 'PPTP VPN' tab for all ports/ranges and disabled scrubbing from System/Advanced/Firewall.  I set up my client accordingly.  Getting error 807:

"the network connection between your computer and the VPN server was interrupted. This can be caused by a problem in the VPN transmission and is commonly the result of internet latency or simply that your VPN server has reached capacity.  Please try to reconnect the VPN server..."

I tried connecting from different internet connections and everything is stable.  I have NOT reached my limit of connections (trying to get my FIRST connection).

Can anyone help with this?

OK, I was trying to connect to the outside of my modem.  Now connecting to outside of firewall and getting a different error:

Error 619:
A connection to the remote computer could not be established, so the port for this connection was closed.

Please help.

Thank you, that did the trick!  Is it a known issue with PPTP not playing well with pfSense??

I would REALLY like to know if there is a way to get pfSense to work well with PPTP, has anybody got a real solution to this or is it just a lost cause?

I'm not sure why you would prefer PPTP as it relies on a compromised technology, MS-CHAPv2, and can be intercepted and easily decrypted.

Easy and quick to set up when security is not a high priority.
In that case PPTP is fully supported, check docs.pfsense.org

That's just the thing, they say it should work on one hand and on the other they say it has problems!  I was hoping to find someone on this service that has got a solid working solution for the apparent problems pfSense has with PPTP?!?!?!?!?
