I have two computers. A desktop running Windows 7, and a laptop running Windows 8. Desktop in wired to router, laptop is wireless. The (brother) printer is wired to the router. The desktop connects to the printer by IP (168.192.0.3) and works fine. When i do this on the Windows 8 laptop it shows printer as Offline and when I print to it on the laptop it remains in its que.
How to fix this?

OK. I found it. There are actually two of them - one for profile Private, Public and the other for profile Domain. Both say No under Enabled, and both say Allow in under Action. But beyond that I don't see how to tell it to ignore printer.

1. Double click, on Private and Public profile.

Go to Scope | Remote IP Address | Select These IP addresses

Add the printer IP address | Click OK

2. Configure the SNMP string in Printer Via web access of printer

3. For windows 7 there is also one registry key to make printer online , n case of window  8 you need to check it

"HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Hardware Profiles\0001\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Print\Printers"

Find the offending  printer entry, then find the entry named.

PrinterOnLine

Edit it. Changing it to the value of   1
