Windows 2008 exchange 2010

Hello-

I have 2 questions regarding exchange-  I'm currently using a sonicwall cdp 220, I don't know how familiar everyone is with this device but it's basically a continuous hardware solution backup - that is supposed to back up our exchange info store and individual Mailboxes.  I'm having a great deal of trouble getting both to work properly- After talking to the sonicwall support they debugged the box and checked out our application event log.  The tech wasn't to descriptive in the errors but mentioned that our powershell is not set to active mode? I'm having difficulty finding out how to accomplish this.  Also That the computer or administrator profile doesn't have rights to the mailboxes - Can anyone shine any light on how to fix both these errors?

Thank you in advance

More Information required:

I have never used it but just had a look at this: http://www.sonicwall.com/us/products/CDP_220.html#tab=overview (I hope I was looking at the right thing).

1. Now What exactly is happening with the appliance?
2. Do we have any errors listed on the appliance?
3. Have we followed all steps to deploy this carefully and have not missed any of it and have got the minimum requirements listed for this appliance to work?
4. Are we talking single exchange server getting backup by this appliance to a USB or another storage?
5. Which application log (event) was pointed out by the sonicwall support, please post it here?

Before your problem with the appliance get fixed I would do a FULL backup using Windows Backup. Here is an article on how to: http://www.simple-talk.com/sysadmin/exchange/backing-up-exchange-2010-for-free/

From your describing I think you assigned a user on that appliance to do the backup. In that case you have to give permissions to that users over all mailboxes. To give FullAccess permission to that account run:

Get-Mailbox -Server 'ExchServer' | Add-MailboxPermission -User 'User' -AccessRights FullAccess

Replace 'ExchServer' and 'user'

Administration of Active Directory does not have to be hard.  Too often what should be a simple task is made more difficult than it needs to be.The solution?  Hyena from SystemTools Software.  With ease-of-use as well as powerful importing and bulk updating capabilities.

First run this command on shell:

Add-PSSnapin Microsoft.Exchange.Management.PowerShell.E2010

Then run this with correct values for exchange server and user:

Get-Mailbox -Server 'ExchServer' | Add-MailboxPermission -User 'User' -AccessRights FullAccess

Hi,

You may ask them what the meaning of powershell is not set to active mode since there is no activa/passive mode in powershell,  :)

Processing data from remote server failed with the following error message: The user "
globaleliteinc.com/Computers/GSAEXCH2010" isn't assigned to any management roles

You may ask sonicwall support if SonicWallAgent require any specific permission to backup Exchange and individual mailbox. Exchange 2010 introduced several new Roles to manage Exchange server:

Exchange Roles:

http://www.trainsignal.com/blog/exchange-2010-role-based-access-control

getting an error...
stating that new-managementroleassignment is not a recognized  cmdlet

Like ExchangePundit said else run the command using Exchange Management Shell on Exchange server
