Assistance with CRM for a IT Consulting firm

Hi everyone.  We are a IT consulting firm and we are lacking in the area of customer contact information as far as technical information.  We have contact information for our accounting and operations department but we are needing something for our engineers.  A database of sorts that will carry the individual information of each client like client access, VPN connection information, IP addresses, DC info, etc...

We've tried Sharepoint and found it way too fat and cumbersome for our needs.  We are hoping for a cooked product at this point that we can host internally and will take little to no customization on our part to get up and running.  Any suggestions would be great and much appreciated.

You say that you want to host it internally, and for that, I suggest SugarCRM:

But if you're willing to consider the cloud, I suggest Zoho CRM:
http://www.zoho.com/crm/

Zoho CRM is very comparable in functionality to the cloud-based CRM leader, Salesforce, but it is much less expensive. Regards, Joe

Another 2 good ones which are specifically designed for IT are:

Autotask is hosted though. It allows you to manage sites and contacts, add custom fields, create tickets, knowledge base articles, etc.

 Labtech allows you, have remote access to all pc's, and gives all the information a technician needs while on site, e.g. contact names and number, domain\user, ip address, s, etc.  Passwords and license information can also be entered and it will automatically get license information for installed software on pc's, notify of hardware changes, etc. It also has a ticketing system.
