Exchange 2007 SP3 Search NOT Working

We have Exchange 2007 SP3 (with Update Rollup 1) where the "Exchange Search Indexer service" is not working correctly for all users especially when trying to search their mailboxes from OWA; they are getting the error "Search results may take a long time to appear because Microsoft Exchange Search is unavailable".

When we tested the search using "test-exchangesearch -identity <mailboxname>", we keep getting "Results Found=false  and Search time= -1" indicating the search is not working for the mailbox.

We tried to rebuild/reset the search index on the mailbox database using "ResetSearchIndex.ps1 -force -all" command; however we still stuck with the same issues.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

How does search work with Outlook?
Ensure that you Exclude your AV from scanning storage Database folder if the problem persists with Outlook also.
I presume that this does not happen for newly created users

You already performed the steps as per http://support.microsoft.com/kb/945077

Can we also confirm if this problem is for users on any store or all stores?

If problem is with all stores then kindly Increase the Diagnostic logging:
Set-EventLogLevel "MSExchange Search Indexer\General" -level Expert
Set-EventLogLevel "MSExchange Search Indexer\Configuration" -level Expert

Look for any relevant event id in logs

If your mailbox servers cannot ping crl.microsoft.com then add it to your HOSTS file pointing 127.0.0.1 as per http://support.microsoft.com/kb/944752

Then resetSearchIndex and the CatalogData folder should start increasing in size.

Is this a standalone or Cluster ?
Does the search work fine with OWA ?
Is Outlook in cache or Online mode ?

It turned out to be we started the process of rebuilding Exchange indexing while the MDB backups were running; as soon as we suspended the backups; the index rebuilding went out successfully and Exchange search is now working properly.

Hi ... i am a new to forum please help me out my exchange search just don't like to search

How many Mailbox Database do you have ?

1. total around 2.5 tera
2. mail storage 25
3. mail boxex 250 above
4. Largest .ebd file size is 200GB
5. Smallest .edb file size is 50MB for testing purpose i created.. but Event log 110 did not appear.

Is the issue being faced by all users ?
Yes
Is this a standalone or Cluster ?
Yes Clustered
Does the search work fine with OWA ?
YES
Is Outlook in cache or Online mode ?

In Online mode search not working
