How do I toggle the Paste command in MS Word?

How do turn on the paste from the clipboard?

When i copy anything in Windows 7, I can then paste it directly into most applications.

Problem: If Word is not open before I select and copy something in windows, I can not then open Word and paste directly into a document. I must have my Word application open before I do the copy command of something in the Windows environment and then and only then will I have the option to paste directly into Word.

In the past and on other computers I could select and copy anything and wether or not Word was open at the time, I could start the Word application and paste away.

It would seem there is an option turn off or something within Word.

like above poster said. an addon is usually the culprit
here's how to disable addons on any office application

Disable the addons one at a time until the function starts working properly.
