Issues Installing CUE Application Software on ISM
I'm putting together a fresh deployment of CUCME and CUE on a 2901 router in my small office. Router is already up and running with full config and 75% config done for phones which aren't being cutover until next week.
My problem is that no matter what I try, I can't get the cue application to install on the ISM-SRE-300-K9. I have no idea what to do at this point.
I've spend many many many hours working on this so far. I have what I think are the correct CUE files ready for download. I know 8.6 is out but I have 8.5.1. I tried using:
service-module ism0/0 url ftp://user:password@172.16.20.10/users/phil/desktop/cue2/cue-vm-k9-sme.8.5.1.pkg
Result:
%Error: Couldn't open ftp://*****:*****@172.16.20.10/users/phil/desktop/cue-vm-k9-sme.8.5.1.pkg.install.sre
Using Filezilla as file server and I see it hitting the server and looking for the file.
I also tried the boot helper command from the ServicesEngine boot-loader prompt using tftpd32. Files are not found. No communication.
I can ping everything from everywhere. No issues whatsoever.
Here's some of the interfaces config:
interface ISM0/0
description UNITY_EXPRESS_MODULE
ip unnumbered GigabitEthernet0/1.100
ip virtual-reassembly in
service-module fail-open
service-module ip address 172.16.100.2 255.255.255.0
service-module ip default-gateway 172.16.100.1
interface GigabitEthernet0/1.100
encapsulation dot1Q 100
ip address 172.16.100.1 255.255.255.0
I'd be super happy to furnish anything you need to look at to help me find an answer. Phones are being cutover next week, and so I have only a few days to get this figured out and finish the config.
Thanks so so much for your help!

I had this exact problem. After beating my brains out and then talking with Cisco TAC they RMA'd the card and the next one worked perfectly. It's a bad card.
ASKER
I read a lot of forums with the same experience that resulted in RMAing the card. In my case I did finally get it to work. Certain free ftp servers worked, some didn't. Then, only after reloading the module a few times did it finally communicate with my ftp server. At that point I was able to finally install the files.
It took maybe 4 different ftp server applications and maybe 8 reloads. I don't know if that's what exactly fixed it, but everything is working properly now.
Now my only issue (because this is my first experience with CME and CUE) is configuring everything properly. At this point I'm struggling with 94 different methods of configuring DID, hunt groups, etc. I'm not sure if voicemail will even work next week!
Can I post my configuration for you to look at just to see if I need to make any changes?
Thanks!!!

That's good to hear that you got it working! What FTP server ended up working correctly?
Sure you can post your config.
