Cannot add ESX5 host to vcentre but can connect via vsphere

I have a DR cluster with 3 Esx 5.0.0,469512 hosts.
One was playing I put it in maintenance mode and rebooted
Rebooted successfully however status continuously showing
disconnected.

Though it ay be a timing issue so waited 20 mins nothing.
So used vsphere client and can connect fine with root and see the host and vms on it.
However Ijsut cannot reconnected to it.

I believe that Vcentre doesn use root to speak to hosts, rather it uses vpxuser however
I still cannot add the host. I get an error

Could not contacte the spicified host. The host may not be avilable, a network configuration problem may exist, or the management services n the host may not be responding.

This error seems to be icorrect on all 3 counts though?
If it were true surely I couldn't use csphere client to contact directly?

How do I get this esx host reconnected?

Thanks

if you cannot ping the ESX/ESXi hosts from vCenter, network connectivity issues are you problem.

check nics, IP addresses, subnet masks etc

Have you checked, vCenter can successfully communicate with the host via IP address or hostname, FQDN ?

I dont know how to test that?
I can conect with the vpshere client to IP and fqdn
Both fail when using the VCentre

HOWEVER
Having jsut logged on to the Vcentre I cannot ping the host

Seems that's the problem, but I can ping from another location.

A Nic issue?

*edit
It seems the only machine I cannot ping from is the VCentre.
Very odd.
