Hi i have installed a MS Exchange 2010 server into the organisation and migrated the data from the existing Exchange 2003 server. All is working fine, however i cannot decommission the Exchange 2003 server as i cannot move the public folder instances.

The main company contacts appears fine in Public folders on the users Outlook, it shows a secondary folder but there are no contents.

I have tried several times to move all replicas on the ESM but nothing appears to happen. I have also tried the cmdlts from the Exchange 2010 server and it just does appear to do anything.

Any help appreciated.

Many Thanks

If you want to make it simple you can Export the data from Public folders to PST from Legacy and then Import the same from PST using mailbox in E2k10.

If once done you dont want some data to be moved but decomission you can delete the PF database itself and then proceed with the uninstallation.

I would however recommend you to stop the E2k3 server for a couple of days and check nothing is being affected  .... also run EXBPA from E2k10 toolbox when the E2k3 server is down to see no issue as if theer would be anything EXBPA will report apart from E2k3 server unavailable :)

ok many thanks, the main contacts have move across it's just the it contacts which i can in fairness delete now anyway as they have be moved to the main contacts database (3rd party).

Ok thanks i will turn the E2K3 server off this afternoon and run the tests on the E2K10 box and revert. Thanks for the response.

OK, i have switched the E2K3 server off, run the EXBPA on the E2K10 box, i have a couple of warnings incoming and outgoing message size to hign. I can live with that as unfortunately a few individuals need this.

Cannot connect to the E2K3 as expected, however i have 2 errors Cannot connect to port 25 of the routing group master, and port 691 of the routing group master on the old E2K3 server.

I am assuming something needs to be removed as it is looking for this server?

Or should i decommission the old server buy deleting the PF store.

Why not set the limit to standard on the Global and increase on few who need .... why for the entire environment ?? does it makes sense.

RGC needs to be deleted while removing the old server so thats no issues.

Or should i decommission the old server buy deleting the PF store - you can surely if everything is on E2k10 and user functionality isnt affected :)

Unfortunately the nature of their business they all receive at least 2-3 large emails a year at different times. So i am going to leave that.

I have decommissioned the server, and everything is working OK.

Thanks for your help.
