Running 4 server 2003 R2 with presentation 4. I have all 4 servers scheduled to reboot every night and have for years. This morning none of the servers would accept connections. After rebooting them again (1-4 times) they would accept connnections and they are running fine now. I did apply some windows updates to the servers on Sunday. I have attached the errors on the event viewer.

Try to schedule reboot the servers in different timings and check. Did you checked this citrix article http://support.citrix.com/article/CTX110302.
also make sure server set to enterprise edition, If not then change it.

The servers already are set to reboot at different times. Is that what you mean?

I checked the article and the service is set to manual.  I cant find the settings the article refers to at the bottom where I can turn off and on citrix Memory/CPU utilization

We run 2003 standard server.

I mean citrix server license edition, not operating system.

1. What is the license version you're using? Virtual memory works with Enterprise and platinum license.

2. To disable virtual memory feature: In the AMC go to your Farm Properties (right-click on the farm name and properties), and then go to the Memory/CPU section under Server Default, NOT Farm Wide, and make sure the no check boxes are checked for CPU or Memory optimization.

To ensure proper license server edition is set, first check what is the license edition you have by logging into to the license server console and identifying the license files. Now go to those problemmatic servers in AMC, right click and you will see set license server edition. If there is any mismatch, correct it.

this looks like a listener crash issue , please reset the ICA listener and verify it works, use the following command :

reset session ica-tcp /server:SERVER1

** replace SERVER1 with the actual hostname of the server with issue.

for permanent fix use the hotfix :

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/958476
Hope this helps

Cheers..

basraj: In the license server it states Citrix XenApp Advanced for license.
When I open up managment console and right click on farm got to properties I dont have Memory/CPU or server default option and I cant seem to find it anywhere else.
Also Whats AMC? I cant find anywhere on citrix server that specifies license type only license server.

sarmahjay: I had one server with the issue this morning and I tried the command you specified and I got a error. Session ica-tcp/server:servername not found
I tried every case for servername and FQDN and it couldnt find it. I was running the command prompt from the server in question

Well if you are unable to run the command , login to the server , open "tsadmin" right side select Sessions tab , and reset ICA TCP listener, make sure ICA/TCP listener is in listening mode , now I suspect it should be down

or

go to Run, type TSCC.msc ,  it will open  Terminal services Configuration \connections  ,

right click ICA-TCP , select "All Task" then "Disable Connection "

Repeat above steps and select "Enable Connection" from "All Task"

by the line ", now I suspect it should be down " in my above suggestion I mean the current state of the ICA listener should be down causing all this issue. So you have to make sure the ICA listener is up and all the above steps are different ways to reset ICA listener. So before performing the steps just make sure ICA listener is down, if it is then only these solutions will help you to fix.

All the servers are up and running now so I hate to reset something and bring it down. How can I  make sure ICA/TCP listener is in listening mode?

login to the server , open "tsadmin" right side select Sessions tab , and make sure ICA/TCP listener is in listening mode .

or in Citrix Delivery console /Access management console, select the server from the left side under Servers, then right side under the hostname you will get a drop down menu select Sessions , you will see ICA-TCP with session ID 65536 or 65537 , type ICA , verify state it will be either listening or down .

sarmahjay; You were correct sorry about my confusion. I opened tsadmin then highlighted server name-sessions tab and the ICA-tcp was down I reset it and it worked.

So whats the fix so it will come up automatically?
