IBM Tivioli v5.6.5 not List in smit

On my new Aix 6.1 server an older copy of Tivioli v5.6.5 was installed. On my old server I used to be able to go into 'smit" and Tivioli was listedat the bottom of the menu but it's not listed on my new server

Which Tivoli product do you mean?

Generally, in order to update the smit menus a regular installation from the distribution medium/package is required.

Just copying the software over from another server won't do.

If you mean IBM Tivoli Storage Manager (Server or Client) - yes, 5.6 runs under AIX 6.1.

smit never had an own menu item for TSM server or client.

The only thing I'm aware of is "Devices" -> "Tivoli Storage Manager Devices" -> ...

Quite another thing is Tivoli SysBack. There is a smit menu item if it's correctly installed.

"smitty sysback"

If you don't find it in smit, it might not be installed at all, or the installation might be broken.

What do you see with

lslpp -l | grep -i tivoli

?

Why don't you read my comments entirely?

lslpp -l | grep -i tivoli

And smit sysback should have returned

1800-007 There are currently no SMIT
¦   screen entries available for this FastPath.
¦   This FastPath may require installation of
¦   additional software before it can be accessed.

If it really didn't return anything there must be something horribly wrong with your machine.

There is nothing like Tivoli Storage Manager or SysBack installed.

Tivoli Management Agent is just  an agent that runs on your system as part of the Tivoli Distributed Monitoring.
It can report various things about your system back to the Tivoli Enterprise Console, if there is one somewhere in your network. If there is none it does literally nothing.

It comes with the AIX standard installation and has nothing to do with Backup/Restore or Storage Management.

Who told you they installed Tivoli?

Remove what? Why don't you believe me?

There is NOTHING, so there is NOTHING to remove.

This poor agent doesn't do any harm, please leave it alone.

Did you upgrade to AIX6.x from an earlier version of AIX5 or 4 on this same system. If you did, that breaks Sysback and it must be reinstalled.

If this is a new system, Sysback must be licensed and installed. It does not come with AIX, but is purchased.
