Domain Servers need for enviroment and netlogon

Just a few question
How many domain server are needed for a typical network enviroment?
How many is to many?
If a domain server is demoted and made a members server, is there away to still have use of netlogon files?

- Honestly, you only need 1 to make a network, 2 for some failover/loadshedding/redundancy, then 3 if you're maybe creating a "host-site" or "delayed replication" DR system, then the number of users starts to become a consideration for the next DC. Some usefull links/comments above

- What kind of use do you have to the netlogon files? By default, there are no files in the netlogon folder. Whatever exists there is what you or another admin/person may have saved there. If you copied them from that location then you can re-use the files.

You just won't have the functionality of the domain, like centralized admin, etc.
You can use your old login scripts and install them on each machine as a startup script.

unless I've totally mistunderstood your question.

You can never have too many domain controllers but as a rule of thumb you need at least 2.
