Sharepoint weirdness

As best I can I'm going to explain an oddity that is happening to one of our Sharepoint "Mysite" sites.
I received a request for help that this person was trying to log into her Mysite but it wouldn't accept her credentials.  Since I'm the Sharepoint Admin, usually I can log into anyone's site but even I couldn't log in.  The initial error I received was "user not found".
I went to Central Admin and did a search and her site WAS found.
I looked at her site using the Sharepoint Manager Utility (good utility BTW) and under "Owner" I saw the error "Attempted to perform and unauthorized operation".  I clicked on the elipse hoping I'd be able to actually enter her name as owner, then I received the attached error.
I went to Central Admin > Site Collections > Change site collection administrators and found that she IS listed as the owner but here's the really strange part -- I placed my name as the "Secondary Site Collection Administrator" then I was able to log into her site (as myself).
I went back to the Sharepoint Manager Utility and looked at her account again and now the above mentioned error was not there - she showed up as owner and I showed up as Secondary Owner.
I don't have her password so I'm unable to log in as her so I don't know if placing my name as secondary administrator enables her to log in.
If she's unable to log in still - does anyone have any ideas how I might correct this strangeness?
Sorry to be so long-winded - brevity doesn't appear to be my strong suit and I always try to give as much detail as I can to aid in troubleshooting

I would go for removing her as primary site admin and saving and the adding her back and saving. Have this cure many issues

Remove her from the Primary.  Add your self as the Primary.  Then log into the Site.  Go to Site Settings - Permissions - Site Collection Admins.  Add her to this list.  Have her try to log in.

I actually haven't received any feedback from the user but I like to think no news is good news.
