This is directly related to http://www.experts-exchange.com/Software/Server_Software/Content_Management/WebBased_CMS/Joomla/Q_27835271.html

I am an experienced web developer with ZERO joomla experience.

I have inherited a joomla site (that also has a custom backend with custom coded php and another (MySQL) database.

I am trying to move the hosting from a shared server to a managed server.

As discussed in the referenced question, I have copied the entire joomla database & put it on the new server as a new MySQL database; I have modified the configuration.php file on the new server so it points to the new database.

I have "run" the site; it looks fine. The customer has reviewed it & says it looks fine. Since I understand that the site content in Joomla is in the Joomla MySQL database, I assume that means the database is OK.

But when I go to mysite.biz/administrator on the NEW server, I cannot log in with the login (UserID & password) that work on the old system.

Why?

Is something else required in configuration.php?

Thanks!

No you dont need to do anything in configuration.php.

You reset your admin username and password check whether it works.

To webmatrixpune

I was very hopefull that your method would work. But it doesn't.

I tried it both ways (hashing the password using the Javascript MD5); doesn't work.

Then I used the other method (select PASSWORD from the pulldown) when editing the record.

Neither works.
