Kerberos client received a KRB_AP_ERR_MODIFIED error from the server

Ive been having problems with quite a few PCs taking ages to log off / shutdown.

Looking at the event veiwer I find the following entry
The kerberos client received a KRB_AP_ERR_MODIFIED error from the server host/myServer.  This indicates that the password used to encrypt the kerberos service ticket is different than that on the target server. Commonly, this is due to identically named  machine accounts in the target realm (myServer), and the client realm.   Please contact your system administrator.

Looking into some websites, I find that I need to change the SID on the PCs/Laptops that are effected, but I cannot find any way of changing the SID without formatting the PC.

Any ideas id SID would fix this, and how to change renew the SID.

Thank you

    Accepted Solution

I wouldn’t change the SID. I would try to make that those computers leave the domain and reenter again.

And when you leave the domain, check you AD and be sure the computer is gone...
