How to enable subscribed feeds in Outlook without using Common Feed List (CFL)?

Hi,

I have a RSS feed used in an intranet website using smartfeed, which users are not willing to see their subscribed feeds in browser, only in Outlook. I found that once the check box in Outlook to synchronize RSS feeds from CFL is enabled, users can subscribe in browsers and once restart Outlook it will be synchronized in Outlook as well.

The issue is that the people that take care of the Windows domain in each of the desktops, claim that this can be a channel of entrance for malicious softwares, since there is a uncontroled door to the outside world. Therefore, I have a requirement to look at options without using CFL, which once user subscribe to the feed list in the browser, it will be synchronized in Outlook. Would that be possible, like for example, using a Javascript?

What I want to achieve it to do automatically what the site below shows how to do manually in Outlook (i.e. Manually enter a new RSS Feed subscription):
http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/outlook-help/subscribe-to-an-rss-feed-HA010355679.aspx

Thank you.

Best regards.

Thank you. Could you please elaborate more how could I do that? I am looking at sort of programmatic way to do it i.e. using JavaScript or any other language. I can only use Internet Explorer, which is the standard browsers for our users. This standard is an organization policy, which I cannot change.

Internet explorer REALLY wants you to use a common feeds list..

If you have a list of the rss feed urls you can simply add them into outlook by going to the account settings and then selecting the RSS tab and then add the url's.

Thank you, but sorry. I think you didn't understand what I wrote. I have a forum that around one thousand users are going to use. They are not willing to add this configuration manually into their outlook, as most of them are not either RSS or Outlook savvy or still they simply are not willing to.

My job is to make their life as simple as possible, and what you described I already mentioned in the link above. Again:

Any idea how to do it automatically without having to use the check box on the attached figure, which I got from Outlook 2010 Options/ Advanced ?RSS

create an opml file and give them information on how to add it to outlook.  Since their admins have chosen this path then you really can't automate it.

What you can do is send them an sharing invitation email message

Thanks a lot. I have already found the two links below which will help to achieve what you said about opml file:

http://www.addictivetips.com/internet-tips/how-to-generate-opml-file-from-rss-feeds/
http://www.addictivetips.com/windows-tips/outlook-2010-import-rss-feeds-opml-file-from-google-reader/

What I will try to do now is to generate the opml file automatically when users subscribe to the RSS feed and then, also automatically, send a sharing invitation email with this feed created in Outlook. Any idea on how to do that, all automatically? At least, how to import the opml file automatically into Outlook?

I also realized what I am looking for is to create a Microsoft Common Feed List like specific for my application, so that it would be possible to disable it in Outlook and while, by default, users wouldn't have external RSS feeds still they would have access to my RSS feeds, which is from the intranet system. Any thoughts?

Regards.
