Outlook search contacts in list view

I know in Outlook contacts if I'm in "Card" view that I can type and it would bring me to the first occurrence of what I was typing in.  When I try the same thing in "List" view, it appears to be typing in on the blank record on top like it's creating a new records on the fly.  So is there any way where I can treat the list view search so when typing it works like the "Card" view by going to first occurrence rather than filtering the list of such occurences?

I'm not familiar with Groupware version, but do you have the ability to use Ctrl+E and start typing?

I do, but when I type there, it filters my list rather than going to first occurrence in list.

For example, if I type in "Jones", it returns all the records containing "Jones" whereas I'd rather see something like:

Johan
Jolie
Jones
Joplin
Jory

when I view my list.

Apologies - I see what you are after now.  To my knowledge, this is not possible via any form of option or configuration changes.  It appears to be an integral function of the view type.

It certainly would be nice if there's a way to type and do what we need to do like we can with "Card" view and likewise in Time Matters which is where we are migrating contact information for a client.  Anyone in particular at Microsoft we can contact to verify whether or not it is possible to accomplish what we're trying to do here?

Anybody else?
Is it even possible to use Visual Basic programming to create such a table view?

I've requested that this question be deleted for the following reason:

Went ahead and contacted Microsoft support on this issue, turns out what we were trying to accomplish is impossible due to the way it was designed.

@accucom - Not quibbling over points, but question asked and answered correctly.  I understand your desire for definitive confirmation from the vendor (MS), but that is somewhat contradictory to the purpose of this forum.  In the future, you should recognize the efforts of the expert participants even if you seek outside confirmation.

Also, by deleting the question, you prevent this solution from being made available through the knowledge base for future users.

Sorry that you didn't receive the solution you were looking for.
