Apple Time Capsule Configuration

I need guidance on best configuration for the following:  My colleague and I share home office.  (3 story house, his office is on top floor where modem, etc. is.  I live in basement apartment and work from there).   We have a wireless network setup with an external hard-drive connected to modem for backup of our business files.

I have a Time Capsule downstairs with me,  which I would like to use for my personal back-ups and don't want him to have access to.  I  have a mac and a PC.  What is the suggested set-up?  Do I set up my Time Capsule to create a different network, or do I extend our office network.  I apologize, but I am very ignorant when it comes to this type of stuff :)

Oh... additionally, I would like to be able to access my Time Capsule remotely when I travel.

This is very possible to do if you are running OS X Lion.

Here is a URL to the step by step instructions.

When it comes to remote access, you can configure your time capsule to be available with your iCloud account.

Thanks Nappy but still confused on setup, is it best to create a separate network or extend home wireless network if I'll need access to both shared backup drive and my own time capsule?   If you can help with that the points are yours!   Oh and I do have lion

An extended network I think would do just fine.

I am not sure why you would even need to share a backup drive, considering that you have your own Time Capsule.
