Have the users logoff / back on. They may have lost their session token if the server rebooted and they didnt.
Does the message actually read:
"windows cannot access \\server\users$\"username"\My Documents"
because i would expect \\server\users$\dcanter\My documents.

From the server can you browse \\server\users$\ ?

actually have a few that have done so. this is a DFS or shared sync file environment. I am getting a few users getting denial as the day goes through....
yes i am logged on server and view: \\d\users\"all users"
sorry yes it is showing your thought: \\server\users$\jdoe\My Documents
should the root users$ have a shared padalock icon next to it?

ok, issue: users have lost permission to folders and files (properties --> security --> username not in list. do i just add them for every user that lost permission? this sux...
@djcanter, what should the ntfs permissions be as "best practice" ? thanks,
was a good question, because once i started looking over the permissions, i noticed the users Owner creator was non existent and where not granted access to their own files. Thanks,
