IO request taking longer to complete

Hi,

I see this message on the sql  error log on my server.

SQL Server has encountered 1 occurrence(s) of I/O requests taking

longer than 15 seconds to complete on file ["c:\log\dbname.ldf"] in database [dbname]

(8).  The OS file handle is 0x00000000000015A8.  The offset of the latest long I/O is:

0x000000d9fe2000

I see an alert from SCOM with the below message :

Database dbname in SQL Server instance ' ' on computer servername is offline/recovery pending/suspect/emergency

The database seem to be working fine.

This happened around 4 am yesterday. What could be the possible cause of this issue.

Thanks.

This appears to be an appropriate resource:

I'd also check your backups while you're reading it!
