hi Experts,
Intention is to connect directly from DELL m1000e (8Gbs FC pass-through module) to HP SAN storage (HP FC SAN switch). Please advise if the required setup is feasible. Thanks in advance.

Current setup as follows:

Blade enclosure
DELL m1000e chassis with M710 half-height blades (Windows 2008 R2 with Hyper-V vms)
I/O Bay 1 - M63348 switch
I/O Bay 2 - 8Gbs FC pass-through module
I/O Bay 3 - Empty
I/O Bay 4 - M63348 switch
I/O Bay 5 - 8Gbs FC pass-through module
I/O Bay 6 - Empty

SAN Storage
HP 8/40 Base 24-ports Enabled SAN switch - PN: AM869A (with HP 8Gb Shortwave B-series FC SFP+ and Multi-mode OM3 LC/LC FC cable)
HP P6500 EVA Dual controller
HP M6612 SAS drive enclosures

    Accepted Solution

That should work assuming you have fibre channel mezzanines in the blades. Dell do Brocade switches that can go in the enclosure though, possibly cheaper than buying pass-throughs plus external switches.
