[Visual Basic 6.0 32-Bit] Provider can not be found (SQLNCLI.1)

I want to connect (local) to SQL Express on Windows XP Prof.

My connectionstring is as followed:

Dim Con As New ADODB.Connection
Con.Open "Provider=SQLNCLI.1;Persist Security Info=False;Initial Catalog=dbLocal;Data Source=.\SQLEXPRESS;Application Name=xyz","xxx","xxx"

Why does this not work ?

Visual Basic reports that the Provider can not be found !

But I have definately installed it on the client pc, especially as it comes along with the installation of SQL Server 2008 R2 Express.

By the way, I want to connect via SQL Authentication.

Any one has an idea ?

Thank you, so much !

    Accepted Solution

create a file with the ".udl" extension (on your desktop, for example).
right click it - properties - set up the connection.
open it in notepad, and copy the connection string.
