This is created from http://jqueryui.com/themeroller of <meta charset=iso-8859-1" /> is
<meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=iso-8859-1" /> for accordion function for mobile (HTML5 / phonegap / xcode).

I've another option using <meta charset="utf-8" />.  I've been using this <meta charset="utf-8" /> all the time for a mobile device.

I only noticed <meta charset=iso-8859-1" /> just now for jquery-ui-1.7 and there is no <meta charset="utf-8" /> and could not tell the difference of meta charset? It is created from http://jqueryui.com/themeroller.

As jquery-ui is supposed to depends on 'jquery' (y: DaveBaldwinPosted on 2012-08-24 at 21:32:35ID: 38331790).

What is the purpose of <meta charset="utf-8" /> and/or <meta charset=iso-8859-1" />? If http://jqueryui.com/themeroller did not include jquery declaration or it did declare but hidden?

The charset defines how the browser is to interpret character codes. iso-8859-1 will render correctly foe most Western European languages; with some quirks.  utf-8 is the preferred encoding because it will render most languages correctly.  iso-8859-1 is very limited, and may result in some junk being displayed in a page if the browser encounters characters it does not understand.

If your jquery based theme is generating an iso-8859-1 meta tag then it is junk and you should get rid of it.  If it screws up something as simple a the charset, it probably has more serious problems and limitations that will just make life difficult for anyone using it.

However my opinion is biased.  You could not pay me enough to use jquery.  It's primary function is to prevent developers from learning how to code and control their own pages.

Hear hear...."It's primary function is to prevent developers from learning how to code and control their own pages".

That is what I always thought!! The jQuery.com is fantastic but bloody curse in preventing us in learning the code and control the pages.
