Is it every website?  If so, you need to scan your computer for malware.  If it is just some sites and the landing page seems legitimate, they are probably setting a cookie that first time so they can tell that you've been there the next time.

I am finding that Google Chrome is loaded with malware.  But, it is just a bunch of sites.  I just deleted all of my cookies last night and that solved the problem.  I checked Google today and I am not seeing the landing pages now.  I just want to know who is setting the cookies - Google.

[Video] Oticon Case Study

Open office environments can create the dynamics for innovation, but they also bring some challenges. With over 1,000 employees in an open office, Oticon needed a solution that would preserve the environment while mitigating disruptive background noises.

Watch how they did it.

Cookies by themselves will not and can not cause pop-ups.  If deleting your cookies actually stopped the pop-ups, then something else was reading the cookies and causing the pop-ups.

Well, I cleaned up my cookies and I do not get those landing pages as I once was.  Also, I use the Hitman Pro to scan for virus and malware.  Using that I was able to determine if I in fact had a virus.  I did not so I just cleaned up my history on Google Chrome and everything is working find.  I just want to know where those cookies are coming from.  Is it google or someone that I am receiving email from.  I guess I may be in the wrong forum for that question however, I need to know because whoever it is going to be making a lot of money.  I receive a great deal information from sites that offer the free videos for Internet marketing, software development and web development.  I just need to know if I need to curtail my inquiries to these sites.  I hope I am clear with this request.  And, thank you thus far.

Cookies in your browser can only be set by websites that you visit.  They can not be set by email.  Websites that include ads from other web sites can result in cookies from the web sites for the ads also.

I don't know why you say they will be making a lot of money.  But you should be careful about the web sites you visit.  There are a lot of 'free' things out there that are just scams.  Avoid installing anything from those sites.  Your anti-virus won't necessarily detect an add-on for your browser that just causes pop-ups because that isn't a virus that is trying to damage your computer, just an unwanted program or addon.

Thanks for the points.  If you are using Wordpress, you can look at your cookies from your web site and see that Wordpress will set some cookies in your browser.

I thought my problem was resolved.  I clicked on the icon for my yahoo email account and this webpage showed up.  If you look it is a sponsored website.  Can you explain to me what this is.  This is new to me.

You have some kind of hijacker on your computer or in your browser.  Since your anti-virus isn't picking it up, try downloading and running the free version of Malwarebytes http://www.malwarebytes.org/ .

I don't know what that means.  I have never had a problem with Chrome.
