Windows Server 2003 Disk Management reporting 100% free space on two volumes

When I go into Computer Manager or my Windows 2003 R2 server and look at the Disk Management I can see two of the partitions showing the Free Space as the same as the capacity i.e. 100% free. The other 2 are fine.

In Windows Explorer they show the correct capacity, and also if I right click on them in Disk Management and look at the properties it shows the correct usage figures. It only appears to be in the main table you see at the top of the Disk Management that they are reporting incorrectly.

Normally this would just be an annoyance but our Whats Up Gold server is picking up the incorrect data also so we cannot monitor the disk utilisation as it thinks it is 100% free all the time.

Originally the disks in question were configured as Dynamic disks. I converted them to Basic ones but this did not correct the problem. I do note that the File System is alsonot showing NTFS even though the properties of the partitions does show NTFS.

Anyone seen this behaviour or have any suggestions?
1 Solution
Use diskpart
List disk
Select disk <number>
List partition
Select partition <number>
List volume

Not seen it myself, you have to see what it references.
normally running a chkdsk can correct this kind of problem
Can you take screen shot of Windows Disk Management and post it here? It could be geometry problem of your partitions but I need first to look on the layout.

Disk Management showing mis-reporting
Looks as geometry problems. But to give more clear answers I need to look on log files from third party tool called Paragon Drive Backup 11 Server trial www.drive-backup.com
Download and install the tool on this machine. Run once it and then go to Tools - Save Logs - follow the screen and use option two - Collect and Save the logs.
Upload the result zip here. I will look on the logs and share the partition info I gather from them.
