I have a few windows xp professional workstation, which I use the regedit , and modify the profilelist to move to migrate user's profile.

they are attached on a windows 2008 domain.

so some reason off and on they will switch to temp profile or other profiles.

Is there anyways that I can prevent this.

thank you

I have this issue too now and then. It appears to occur when network is interrupted during logon. You must edit the profile list -

\\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\ProfileList

remove the temp items and remove the bak extension from the original profile.

Delete the temp items in Documents and settings, reboot and all will be OK - for a while.

The fix? Lose XP it appears.
