# Excel 2010 Graph X axis Days and Weeks

I have an excel 2010 graph.  The x axis has 21 dates in consecutive order followed by  seven weekending dates.

For example
8-5-2012
8-6-2012
8-7-2012
.
.
.
8-24-2012
8-25-2012
9-1-2012
9-8-2012
9-15-2012
9-22-2012
9-29-2012
10-6-2012
10-13-2012

The graph keeps the values close for the consecutive days, but when the week ending dates display, there is a wide gap, as if it was taking the missing dates into consideration.

I am trying to bring the week ending dates close together, as the consecutive dates dispaly.

Any help will be appreciated.

Assisted Solution

You can convert the data for the x-axis into text.

For example, if the dates are currently in column B, starting at cell B1, add a new column A with the formula
=TEXT(B1,"m-d-yyyy")

Then use column A instead of column B for your graph.  See attached sample file.
