Exchange 2010 Update-MailboxDatabaseCopy -CatalogOnly

We have a couple of databases that have Failed Content Index State. If I run the following command via POwershell;

Update-MailboxDatabaseCopy -Identity database\exch01 -SourceServer exch02 -CatalogOnly

1) Are there any risks involved?

2) Can we lose data?

3) How long is it likely to take e.g. 100GB database?

Thank you

1) Are there any risks involved?  - No it will just move Catalog data from Active to Passive :)

2) Can we lose data? - No email data will be lost

3) How long is it likely to take e.g. 100GB database? - Database Catalog is approx 5% of database size but could vary :)

Hi Thanks for your comments.

"No it will just move Catalog data from Active to Passive" can you please explain? It won't affect the source server at all?

When I run; GET-MAILBOXDATABASECOPYSTATUS -SERVER SERNAME

Content Index State is; Failed.

Running; Update-MailboxDatabaseCopy -Identity database\exch01 -SourceServer exch02 -CatalogOnly

Fixes that, right?

1) Are there any risks involved? - I dont think so
2) Can we lose data? - Its just indexing data nothing to do with Mailbox.
3) How long is it likely to take e.g. 100GB database? - What is the current size on Active node of Catalog folder and what is the replication speed between servers ?

Prefer to take a Good Online backup after production hours and perform this activity as it might cause delays to the replication network during this process.
