Has anybody in these parts ever managed to integrate a QR Code reader SDK (ActiveX, OCX or DLL) into a VFP application?

I've written an app that does everything I need it to do with the PDF417 Barcode but now I need to exactly the same with QR Codes. I've managed to get a (font based) writer working but after trying 12 alleged readers, all of which fail for different reasons, I am losing the will to live!

I've already tried all of those and 10 others. But, as it happens, persistence has paid off. I've found http://zbar.sourceforge.net/

and I've finally managed to retrieve a QR Code from within VFP - for free. Ironic given that all the other options want to charge between 100 and 1300 dollars.

And, for anyone following in my footsteps, it's pretty damn simple. Install it then either set your paths to include the installation folder or copy the relevant folder into your foxpro path

then run the command
RUN zbarimg -D yourbarcodefile.name >> arbitrarytextfile.txt

the -D suppresses the display and pumps the decoded content of the barcode into the text file. Once there you can do what you will with it...
