Hyper-V Config Files on Server 2008 R2

I have an issue that I need assistance with, we are in Baton Rouge and under the gun for the Hurricane. We are relocating a server (Windows Server 2008 R2) with 2 Hyper-V host running on the server. In conjunction with this we are send a direct attached storage device along with it. My concern is that the Hyper V config files (xml) are on the direct attached storage, while the VHD files are on the Servers RAID Array.

While the External Storage is also in a RAID, I have made a copy of the config (xml) files. If the external storage would fail after transport is there anyway to redirect the virtual machines to use the config files stored in a different location?

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Thanks so much

    Accepted Solution

Use Export / Import fuction of Hyper-V. Do not just copy the files. Export / Import is the only method officially supported by Microsoft.

    Good luck with the Hurricane
