Possible Lid Switch problems with 3 Extensa 5430's

I have 3 Extensa 5430-5720's that are all doing the same thing. When they are turned on the power indicator lights are all that you see. The cpu fan will spin up and then go off. After a bit of searching and reading, I found quite a number of people have had this same problem. A stuck lid switch is what is suggested as the problem. This model does not have a manual switch. It has a magnet in the bezel that controls a electronic switch. Is there any way to fix this problem?

you have to replace the lid swittch then; not sure if it is not built into the mobo
look if this helps  http://www.scribd.com/doc/13062016/Acer-Extensa-56206419-Service-Manual

A more powerful magnet may help the switch work properly, but you don't want one that is too powerful.

There is a component called a launch board that may hold the switch. Nothing I read says it is for sure. I have checked the Acer manuals and they are silent concerning this.
I have tried using different magnets to no avail. I may just purchase a launch board to see if it will fix the problem. Thanks for the info. No resolution but I thank you for your time.

in many cases, you have to try for yourself; not all Companys list all details in the docs

They sure don't. I'm sure they would rather I pay them the $500 or $600 and let them fix it. But that is too much for a repair. Just buy a new one. One that doesn't say Acer.
