HI AXISHK,

If you want to carry out the activation OTA then you can. Just assign an activation password to the user and activate it in the usual way.

When the new device is activated, delivery is automatically ceased to the old device. BES will only ever link one mailbox to one device at a time.

Hope this helps,

Hi AXISHK,

Put the new SIM card into the new BlackBerry and power it up. Make sure you get the BlackBerry logo symbol next to the signal bar to verify that your mobile network has provisioned the new SIM card with BlackBerry services.

Start up an instance of the BlackBerry Administration Console on your PC. Make sure that it is in the Trusted Sites zone and has no certificate errors. If you do this correctly, it should prompt you to install the BlackBerry Device Components (This only needs to be done once. You may have already done it.)

Connect the BlackBerry to your PC using a USB cable.

Expand the Attached Devices menu at the left hand side and click on Manage Current Device.

Click Assign Device to a User.

Select your user from the directory.

Click Assign Device.

Confirm it.

Done.

Once the new handset is activated, you can wipe the old one.

Hope this helps,

Mike

Why do I need to connect the new Blackberry with a USB cable ? Does it carry out the authentication over the air ?

Does it mean the user will have two BB devices assigned to a single user ?

One more question - after creating a display name and email for a new user, do I need to go to Manage Users and specify an activation Password / or generate an activation email ?
