MacBook For Visual Studio & Database Work?

Been looking at the MacBook pro for next dev workstation. I see there is a 16GB memory option. Unsure if that much is needed to run Windows 7 pro, Visual Studio 2012 and SQL Server? I have never used a Mac running Windows and would appreciate some feedback from fellow software developers.

If you buy an Apple computer, it's going to cost more than an equivalent PC that will do the same job as efficiently.  This makes sense if you are a graphics designer or media producer, since the software products on Apple are better for these things.

If all you are doing is development on Visual Studio and SQL Server, you are paying for the Apple name and look.  Development will not be any faster; in fact, you could take the extra money you spend on Apple and get hardware that will make a difference, like an SSD or more memory.

8GB should be enough to run the OS, the IDE, and SQL, unless you are building an enormous enterprise project (in which case, you shouldn't be using a laptop).
