Windows 2003 & 2008 server reboots automatically after patching Via SCCM.

Hi,

Windows 2003 & 2008 server reboots automatically after patching Via SCCM. We have not enabled the reboot option in SCCM, but still the windows server reboots after patching within approx 15 hours after patching time.

Below information can be sceen in event log

Event ID:1074
Source:USER32
TYPE:Information
User:NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM

The process winlogon.exe has initiated the restart of computer on behalf of user NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM for the following reason.No title for this reason could be found.

Reason code:0x80020002
Shutdown Type: restart

Working to find the reson for these reboots.Any one came accross these type of issue?

did it reboot during a maintenance window?  does your maintenance window state that it allows rebooting?

Thanks for the information provided. Found the below in Windows 2003 server.Will do this change(Enable) and observe the server for reboots.

"No auto-restart with logged on users for scheduled automatic updates installations"

Hi Kezzi,

These servers wont reboot during maintanence window. After applying patches via SCCM, the servers will reboot with in approx 15 hours.
