Port install gmake is hanging on mountain lion

I have a new 2012 2 gen MBA. 256 SSD 8GB i7

Trying to install

port -d install gmake

Its been hanging on this section for 4 hours now...

checking how to run the C preprocessor... /usr/bin/clang -E
checking for grep that handles long lines and -e... (cached) /usr/bin/grep
checking for egrep... /usr/bin/grep -E

Would anyone now whats wrong??? Or better yet another method?

Btw.. Xcode is installed.

Thanks in advance..

Did you install macports from http://www.macports.org/?

Can you try (after the install of macports):

sudo port install gmake

can you try this? There seems to be a problem with the macports gmake on ML.

open Xcode Preferences / Downloads / Components Tab. It has a list of optional components with an "Install" button beside each. This includes "Command Line Tools" and components to support developing for older versions of iOS.

Now "make" is available and you can check by opening terminal and typing: make -v

The result should look like:GNU Make 3.81

Do I need to install all them? I already selected the command line tools. There are 3 more, but 256 ssd is precious.

No you don't need to install them all. Just what you like. Only Command line tools are necessairy for gnu make.
