SQL Server 2008 R2 Express

I just downloaded Sql server 2008 r2 express and upgraded from sql server 2005 express.

For some reason, I can't connect to the sqlexpress server name on my local machine (laptop).  Here is the error I get:

If you're connecting remotely, you would also want to:

1. Identify which port SQL is running on.
2. Open that port in the firewall(s) to permit traffic from the client IP.
3. Enable TCP/IP protocol in SQL.
