file copy error

I was trying to copy a folder from one hardrive to another and I got an error (see attached) on my Win Xp Pro.

    Is the error true (too long)?  Try renameing the folder to a shorter name and try again. You may also have to re-arrange folders to reduce depth if you have used very long names in the entire path.

    my folder name is /data

    Then you need to check for long filenames (folder names) below /data. I have not seen that error except when the path or filename got too long.

    Check the longest path in the folder "data" that you are trying to copy.

    Also check to see if "data" is corrupted. Run chkdsk (without the fix parameter initially) to see if it reports errors in "data".
