Hello all,
I have a client's Dell XPS L501.  It cannot connect to the web via Ethernet connection or wireless.
I get the error "Windows can't communicate with the device or resource (primary DNS server).

What I have done:
I uninstalled both devices from device manager and their drivers and had Windows reinstall.
I ran the netsh int ip reset c:\resetlog.txt command from DOS box to reset TCP/IP stack.
I've stared at it intently for many minutes to see if I could fix it through sheer force of will.
Naturally, none of it has worked and I seek guidance to find a resolution.

Additional info:
I receive the following error: no operation can be performed on wireless while it has its media disconnected etc.
An ipconfig /all shows the LAN connection has a 192.168.1.xx IP and still does not connect to the Internet.
The wireless connection has a 192.168.33.xx IP.
I have checked both adapters and both are set for DHCP  and obtain DNS automatically.
ipconfig /release & then /renew only changes the LAN connection, and still no Internet connections.

Do you have Mcafee anti-virus?  If so, I would remove it and reinstall it.  Mcafee pushed down some update that screws up the firewall.  Even if you disable the services it still causes issues with the network card.

I would test the nic with an ubuntu boot cd or a trinity cd from trinity-home.org.
