Pasted/Inserted images into Word 2007 are blurry

I am using SnagIt to capture a image of (very small) text.
The image is clear in the SnagIt editor
When I paste into Word, the image is blurry.
When I paste into Paint, the image is clear.
I have tried both pasting from clipboard and inserting image from file with the same results.

SnagIt support suggests that this issue is a "scaling" issue: Paint doesn't do it, Word apparently does.

One question might be, "How do I configure Word to behave like Paint where the scaling is turned off?"

TIA

Are you trying to enlarge the captured image when it is in Word? If so, the result will almost certainly be less clear than the original.

As well, if you are just using the clipboard, Word's image rendering may not work in the same way as Paint. Consider saving the image within SnagIt, and then inserting the image within Word (vs just pasting it in). You can save it in the default JPG format or try a different format to see if you get better results (i.e. BMP or TIF).

I am not trying to enlarge the image: I would like it to be exactly the same size.

As I explained above, I did save the SnagIt image into a JPG and then tried to insert it into Word with the same results.

Did you try saving it as BMP (the native format for Paint) or TIF? Word uses an intermediary format for images, and it doesn't always render them accurately for the screen so you might also check to see if they print in the resolution you want.

If you are not enlarging the image, perhaps you can enlarge the view in the source application so your screen shot is larger than 100%. Then you can reduce it in Word to realize better resolution.

Word is going to do what it is going to do. I tried every combination of steps you suggest to no avail. Thanks for your thoughtful suggestions.
