Windows 7 Activation and KMS Server
I work in an school with over 800 machines. During the summer we have rei-maged the site and not surprisingly Windows 7 Activation has got upset and now wants all the machines to re-activate.
The KMS server is up and running fine and if I lookup the DNS record on any client it resoves correctly.
If I run slmgr.vbs -ato on the Windows 7 machine it re-activates itself fine without error.
The problem is that the machines aren't automatically re-activating.
Frustratingly I also don't have any errors on the KMS server or on the Windows 7 machines.
Please help.

I didn't sysprep them, historically I haven't had an issue with not sysprepping images when it has been the same type of machine.
I suppose psexec is an option but will have to ensure all the machines are on and then run it across the site.
I am just working through the microsoft trouble shooting as per pramod_ubhe's post.
Thank you for getting back so quickly.

If a machine is offline than psexec will fail on that machine. That machine can be dealt later. There is no need for all machines to be online at once.

good point. the bit that is confusing me is that if i run slmgr.vbs -ato manually, it works fine so why won't the bloomin' machine activate automatically???
That part is hard to say from here.
Try checking the event logs on the desktops and see if you have lots of warning etc.

After looking at the client machine with /dlv it seems for some reason my base image had a MAK key rather than a KMS key. I can only assume that the -ato worked as it was connecting to the internet.
I have changed the key to a KMS key and am presently uploading my image again.
Thank you for pointing me in the right direction.

You can use psexec to activate the machines remotely.
