time change when connected to work cisco vpn?

I am having a problem with the time changing on my laptop. It is slow about 3 minutes. I have reset the time multiple times in the past few days but it always returns to be about 3 minutes slow.
This morning I did not connect to the VPN and the time did not change. Within an hour after connecting to the VPN, the time slowed by 3 minutes. I assume my time is syncing from somewhere on the network when I connect to the VPN.
Any suggestions?

    Accepted Solution

Yes, it is most likely synching with a domain controller or time server on the network you are connecting to.  They have to be in synch for authentication and other things to function correctly.

Use the same time server on your laptop that the VPN/network uses.

Is this a machine given to you by your company? If so then it most likely has a GPO applied by their domain admins that syncs with their NTP server, without admin control you can't override that configuration.
