Need advice on color combinations?

On http://coboldinosaur.com/pages/scripts-css.html on the left side of the page is a menu with a simple rollover effect.
One of the things I always seem to struggle with are color combinations. I have a blue/green shift that
means my color perception is far from normal.  I generally go for high contrast which is best for accessibility,
but sometimes my color combinations don't work very well.

So I need to know how that menu looks.  Does it need a change in colors?

The two main colours look ok. My agimg blurry eyesight has a bit of trouble reading the white lettering for some reason. I can see the black on white in the main page area much more clearly

Purple, Teal, Yellow, Cyan, Dark Blue, White, & Red all in one menu are a bit much color for me but thats just my opinion...  ( I find it kinda bright and hurts my eyes a lil )

-- I think if you reduced the amount of colors used it may be better ...
( my 2 Cents :-P )

The Red / Yellow / White combo is kinda nice ..

Actually the black font looks clear all over. The white on bright green is clear as well. Not sure why it blurs over darker coloured backgrounds.

#PContent in "css/L3.css" has a reference to 'localhost'.  I keep bringing this up because I get concerned when I see a web site trying to access 'localhost' on my computer.

I am not an expert but I would say there are far too many different colours on the page. You should restrict yourself to 3-4 colours. Maybe have an extra one for mouseover changes

As for choosing colours, seeing them yourself shouldn't be a problem if you use a colour wheel

example colour wheel link obviously you can google further info on what colour combinations work.

I Agree.  The vast array of colors and brightnesses make it hard to focus on any one component or to figure out what your doing there...

The only part my eyes do focus on when i go to it is the Black on White section.

Dave, Sorry.  I had a script to remove the reference when I promoted, but it had a bug in it. :^(

I luv colors, but I have to agree that you may have over-done it a bit on this page.

I might suggest muting a most of the colors dramatically and using off-whites or very desaturated colors in the boxes.

Bring it down to just a couple colors, a tab bit less contrast

I ought to explain that I am looking at this on my phone. The bright green background where the lettering is clear is the Free CSS section. The top left menus css etc. are not easy to read. Looking around I find white font on a bright background easier to read than a contrasty colour. Perhaps its the amount of light coming from the area in general that makes a difference.

Yep. Reduce the number of colors. Also the blue links on the green background are a bit hard to read

If you have a Staples nearby, many of them have put their colorwheels on clearance for fifty cents.  With my two cents below, then you only need 48 more (plus tax where applicable).

Definitely too many harsh colors and a bit of an over-use of gradient effects on the headings and buttons.  Simple and elegant is the way to keep it legible.

cd, why so angry?

If you cannot do your own pages without someone else writing most of the code for you, then you should do something where you can be more productive, like selling shoes, or driving a taxi.

nonetheless, i like how content of site is evolving.

No anger; just some good advice to those who should be looking at career options not related to web development. :^)

Some good feedback coming in here.  The menu needs a little tweaking, but it looks like the real problem is with the table.  Too much ego... doing stuff just because I can was stupid and it ended up over styled.  I'll tone it down to a more conservative presentation.

It's a good page for demonstrating different effects, and I guess that's why it looks so busy. I also like a page that doesn't need scrolling, but given that you're "selling" your effects, it might be worth while to seperate them out into obvioulsy different page sections. Just a thought.

I find the use of yellow a bit jarring.

As a result of feed back the table is really toned down.  I left the menu a little noisy.  But with the toned down table it seems to sit a little more comfortable.  Thanks all.
