If you just simply want to stop it from happening

Syncronization in outlook is related to Cached Exchange Mode

You could simply go into the account settings
    Under exchange server name

remove the tick for use cached excahnge mode

    Hi Apache09,

that doesnt really fix the problem, and if there was ever an issue with the exchange server the users mailbox would be inaccessable.

    Any other ideas?

    Accepted Solution

Are the users laptop users or do you commonly have network related perfomance issues or Exchange Outages where CEM is required?

CEM is one of those things that can have undesired affects on a users mailbox for various reasons. Quite often the Cons outweigh the Pros

CEM is on by default when Outlook profile is configured

The rule of thumb though is to really use it only if you have known netwrok connectivity issues, or exchange issues where users can frequesntly loose connection to the exchange server. The other reason to have it enabled is if the users are laptop users.

Other than those reasons, its not really required

If in your case, you do require the use of CEM.
The sync issues are related to the information being synced from the Exchange to the Users OST

Now its possible the OST has become corrupt and syncing is out on it

In such cases you could turn off CEM
    Locate the users OST
    Rename it to Username@company.comBAK

Now open outlook, and turn CEM back on
A new ost should be recreated, hopefully without any sync issues

Be sure to Clear Out the Sync Issues Folders by deleting the items or archiving the items to a pst.

    Something to keep in mind
As with PSTs, make sure the OST is being stored on the users local machine
If its being stored in a network location the chances for corruption are greatly increased

There is no know issues but i preffer CEM on just incase.

I will try recreating the users ost and see what happens.
