I would like to know how I can install MS lync client for our users by not physically having to sit at every computer. I would like to deploy from a server if possible.

It needs to be installed as an exe.

    Accepted Solution

If you have a software distribution solution like SCCM, Altiris or Numara's Asset Management Platform you can create a package of the exe file and distribute it.

If not you can use GPO to distribute it remotely. This link will help you do this:

yes Software Distribution is better metod for DeployingLync other you can do is
copy one on of location and use script to install lync

    copy \\sharedrive\Lync_Install\lyncsetup.exe %userprofile%\Desktop
    cd %userprofile%\Desktop
    LyncSetup /Install /Silent

    Thanks for the posts,

Matuwadi, the link looks good, I will look through it tonight,

what if I just put the path of where the file is on the network. will that work the same? I dont see why not if permissions are in place.

issue is any install on machines requires admin privs which is not available to users, so I would need to insert my admin credentials.

how or where do you execute your script from?  if you can give me a bit more of an idea step by step please?

we do have a hybrid of 32 and 64 bit machines.
