winsxs folder in 2008 increasing rapidly in size..

Hi,
One of my production database server is running out of space. I found "winsxs" folder in c:\windows is 8 Gigs in size. Its 2008 R2 enterprise edition 64 bit.

Please help me and let me know how critical is this folder and how can we make it lower in size..
