Question on Esx 4/5

My company is using Vmware Esx 4.1. Are there any differences for Esx and Vsphere ?

Is there any quick startup or manual for learning Vmware Esx 4.1  ? I need to take up the role asap.

Tkx
Simon.

ESX or ESXi 4.1 is the platform for running a VM host, it's the OS that hosts the VM's

VSphere is the application that runs on a windows platform that will manage the ESX and VM's

For learning vmware you can start with Train Signal or CBT Nuggets.

Does it mean Esx can be installed by itself without the installation of Window OS ?

Is there any free material for learning Esx 4/5 ?

Yes, you can install ESX on a supported hardware without installing other OS.
There is a lot of documentation on vmware website (http://www.vmware.com/support/pubs/)
