DPM has detected a discontinuity in the log chain

Is it backup of Exchange Database or Incremental ?
Check log sequence with command

eseutil /ml "Location of Log folder\E00" (E00 is the Generation of that storage group)

i am trying to back up Exchange Database which keep failing but I am able to backup system state and Public folder without any problem.

Is both Mailbox database and Public database in the same SG or different ?
If there is break in Log sequence the backups cannot complete ..... we need to work around that situation and try to move all logs before the sequence breaks and then try backup ....


But need to understand the situation first correctly :)

Mailbox database and Public database are in different  SG

So check the Log sequence and if possible take the data into .txt.

i am getting lot of missing log files errors etc

Missing log files: L:\Production Storage group\Logs\E06{0015C4E5 - 001607B7}.log

See i told you ..... lets start with this when can you have a downtime ?

what is the current log as per time modified ... leaving E00.log :)

Thanks. .  I have 4 Databases under this location. Do I have to stop any exchange services before I Dismount databases and what happened if databases are failed to Mount after moving the log files in to different location.

No need to stop any service to dismount .... Is the Exchange 2007 CCR or something or just a Standalone ??

Once you Dismount a Database goes into Clean shutdown and thats all is needed to mount database without any other logs or information :)

So shouldnt be any issues as such .... however if you have any doubts as said earlier do bring up to me to answer all and proceed.

Thanks i have successfully Backed-up full Exchange server. Quick question going forward the transaction logs should be deleted automatically after the full backup or do i need to delete them Manually.  I have unchecked- Enable Circular logging option.

Once you have the Circular logging disabled ... hope its creating many Log files in the location ..... reason i ask is cause once you Enable or Disable "Circular logging" it requires a Information Store service restart :)
